Concrete Work We Do in Clive
Driveway replacements and extensions, new approaches and widened curb cuts, back patios, front walks and steps, and sunken-panel lifting. Clive sits right between Urbandale, West Des Moines and Waukee, so we're in town often.

Clive's Driveway and Curb Rules
Clive's city code requires a permit from the Community Development Department before anyone opens a new driveway onto a public street, makes a curb cut or removes curb. The application needs a rough drawing showing the work, the public right-of-way and your lot lines. The code also sets a clock once the curb is opened:
- Summer (work started after March 15, up to September 15): finish within 30 days or by October 15, whichever comes first.
- Winter (work started after October 15 and before March 15): finish within 72 hours.
In residential areas the code also says removed curbs are ground off, not sawed, unless the Director of Public Works approves sawing.
So an approach job in Clive gets scheduled start to finish before we cut anything. Approach details are covered on our driveway approaches and curb cuts page.

Clive Sidewalk Repairs
Clive's Public Works Department inspects sidewalks across the city every year, and owners are responsible for the walk next to their property. If you get a repair notice, the City's Community Development Department approves how the repair is done. The City wants an inspection once the slab is lifted and the subgrade is at the right elevation (or once forms are set or the surface is ground or patched), and for a slab replacement, a second inspection after the forms are pulled and the backfill and seeding are done. Repairs to shared-use paths, as opposed to regular sidewalks, are handled by the City. We schedule the inspections for you.
